Recommend Bloggers!
My blogging has gone a bit lax the past few months, but hopefully I can turn things around for the rest of 2018.
I am looking to follow some more bloggers, so if you know any bloggers that post reviews about the below, please link me to their blog! Thank you 🙂
The Humpo Show | Richard

Plot Summary: The Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe. (IMDb)
The culmination of a decade’s worth of build up, spanning twenty films has led to this awesome and huge blockbuster that has blitzed all the records going! Avenger: Infinity War is the second most expensive film ever made, after Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and plenty of the expense has been afforded to the colossal cast that comprises of a plethora of leading characters. When the hype dies down on Infinity War, it will still be one of, if not the best film in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Action-packed, funny, and with a villain that is worthy of every single superhero. Following on from my Marvel Short Film Ratings (Films released in 2015-17) I have recently watched 2018’s Black Panther, which is the final film leading up to Infinity War.
Black Panther’s timeline continues on from the events in Captain America: Civil War, where the King of Wakanda has been assassinated and it is up to his son, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), to become what he was born to be- the new King of Wakanda and the Black Panther. Continue reading
A Quiet Place (2018)

IMDb Rating | 8.2
Starring: John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cade Woodward
Director: John Krasinski
Plot Summary: A family is forced to live in silence while hiding from creatures that hunt by sound. (IMDb)
John Krasinski (The Office USA) has directed and starred in a fantastic and much-hyped horror that has received widespread acclaim from everyone, including master storyteller Stephen King, who knows a thing or two about creating incredible horror stories. Starring alongside his wife (Emily Blunt), the pair of them portray a married couple in an unspecified town in America where they have to live in silence due to the presence of monsters that hunt by sound. It is a tense and suspenseful ride. Continue reading

Further to my other discussion post on the books that I think students should have read by the time they finish education, I have compiled a list of films that I think students should watch as films are just as important to students as they grow up. The 10 films I have chosen are from a variety of genres, displaying both males and females in lead roles, race issues, issues of sexuality, individuality, history, loss, escapism and comedy.
Let me know in the comments, or in your post, what films you would have students watch before they leave education.
Alien, Bend It Like Beckham, The Breakfast Club, Coach Carter, Dead Poet’s Society, History Boys, Hotel Rwanda, Schindler’s List, The Impossible and The Theory of Everything. Continue reading

200th Post!
To celebrate my 200th post I am doing my first ever book giveaway, and seeing as Halloween is fast approaching, the three books I am giving away are perfect for this time of year. Misery by Stephen King, Dark Places by Gillian Flynn and Monster by C J Skuse. I’ll also provide an update on some of my blog changes and thoughts on blogging.
Ratings of the National Lampoon Films
This time 12 months ago I hadn’t watched any National Lampoon films. Not a single one. But all that changed after watching the brilliant and funny Animal House. I have now seen 13 National Lampoon films, and I have made a list of my top 12 with their respective IMDb ratings (the 13th is Class Reunion, but it was so bad I haven’t included it). The majority of these films are not going to be included included in the ‘best comedies’ lists, but they are an easy and enjoyable watch for a night in. Today also happens to be Chevy Chase’s birthday too!
Dad’s Army
3.25 / 5
A respectful and funny take on a British classic
When the announcement came that the 70’s comedy classic Dad’s Army was going to be made into a film, I was not impressed one bit. I hated the idea that such a brilliant and of it’s time television series was going to be made with a new cast. However, when the cast was announced, there was some hope in me that they could deliver something that could do the original series justice. Although it can not be compared to the brilliance of the original series, the film is respectful and has some funny moments as it attempts to live up to one of Britain’s most loved comedy programmes of all time.
The Revenant
4.25 / 5
Intensely brilliant.
The frontrunner to win numerous awards at The Oscars (nominated for 12) in a few weeks time, The Revenant is an intensely brilliant film that will grip viewers in the opening sequence, and never let go. A thoroughly thrilling story of revenge and a father’s pursuit of delivering justice to the man responsible for taking the one thing that matters most to him. DiCaprio and Hardy are brilliant in their respective roles of this semi-autobiographical film, which will leave your jaw on the floor.
Matt Damon Tribute
Matt Damon turns 45 today!
I would have done a comedy skit with Matt Damon to celebrate his birthday with hilarious sketches of roles he has done throughout his career but James Corden beat me to it! I suppose we’ll have to make do with a blog post about him! Check out the James Corden skit when you have time, it is great fun.

In this edition of my Short Film Ratings, I have decided to watch some Golden Age Hollywood Classics that I’ve really wanted to see but never have. Expect some more Classic Specials as I am loving watching them! This post includes North By Northwest, Rear Window, High Society and Citizen Kane.
