The fourth instalment, fierce and enormous, spiced with perfumes from all the earlier ones, would lead us at last to the centre of the mystery, uncovering all the puzzles with the help of my favourite fallen angel of mist, Alicia Gris. The saga would contain villains and heroes, and a thousand tunnels through which the reader would be able to explore a kaleidoscopic plot resembling that mirage of perspectives I’d discovered with my father in the heart of the Cemetery of Forgotten Books. Not my words, but the words of two Julians: Sempere and Carax. Continue reading

A collaboration between former President Bill Clinton, and the biggest-selling thriller writer of-all-time James Patterson. It sounds like the stuff of dreams, but I’m afraid for me it was underwhelming. Our protagonist, President Duncan, is facing an almighty threat to the country he is sworn to lead, protect and serve. An enemy of America has created a weapon that will bring the country to its knees, over the course of three days, the President has to find a way to prevent the unimaginable from happening.  Continue reading

Thank you, Victoria Aveyard // Red Queen Series Highlights

I have been wondering of how to fittingly mark the ending of Aveyard’s Red Queen series, and to be honest, even when I began typing away my thoughts, I had no real idea of where it was going to go, but it seems like it will be as simple as a thank you to the author for creating a special series of books, while also imploring others to pick the books up and read them! (I apologise for the overly long and heavily commared (is that a word?!) opening sentence, it gets better, hopefully!).

🔥⚡ The RED QUEEN Series Highlights // Why you should read the series! ⚡🔥

5 Reasons Why Red Queen Series is Amazing:

Victoria Aveyard is a master of world-building.
The action scenes are some of the best I have ever read.

Thank you to Arrow Publishing for sending me the paperback version of Munich for review.

Robert Harris regales the story of the 1938 Munich Agreement between Germany, Britain, France and Italy. Europe is on the precipice of another war. Adolf Hitler has begun acquiring areas of neighbouring countries, citing their Germanic history, in order to build a stronger homeland. Harris weaves together the events of history with some background fiction as he tells the story of two men, one German and one English, who play roles in the final meeting between Chamberlain and Hitler in 1938, when peace was still a possibility.  Continue reading
