Set three years after the events of the first film, the story follows Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven who embark on a journey beyond their kingdom of Arendelle in order to discover the origin of Elsa’s magical powers and save their kingdom after a mysterious voice calls out to Elsa.
Frozen II really stands up to the original film, with some memorable songs, jaw-dropping visuals and a nice, heart-warming story. There are a few emotional moments that will definitely get to the adults in the cinema rather than the kids. All in all, a lovely film that is fully deserving of its four star rating.
The one thing I have to mention is the visuals. They were exceptional. This is the one area that surpasses the original by a margin – there are so many scenes to pick from that illustrate this point, but I’d have to go for the scene with Elsa and the water horse. Hairs standing on end moment. It was great seeing more magical elements too, they were absolutely engrossing.
‘Into the Unknown’ is the song from the film. It occurs early on, but the impact is profound in that it sets up the whole narrative for Elsa leaving Arendelle to search for the mysterious sound that she associates with her magical powers, as well as finding out about a past event that is linked with everything else that’s going on.
Frozen II is a good, solid sequel and one that I am eager to watch again.
