Songs XIV

Songs XIV

The recent edition of Songs features Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Zara Larsson, Alan Walker, Goo Goo Dolls, Shane Filan and Amir.

Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake | True Colours

To promote the upcoming film Trolls, the two lead actors sing a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colours”. The Trolls film is due to be released 4th November.

Zara Larsson | Lush Life

With more summery weather approaching, I feel this song is going to be played quite a lot, probably more than last year! Larsson has appeared in Songs before, but this is probably her most popular song, as it very much a holiday song, and I’m sure Ibiza, Magaluf, Zante, Malia, Ayia Napa and Kavos will be blasting this tune out.

Alan Walker | Faded

The perfect song to have on in the car, at night, driving down a deserted motorway.

Shane Filan | Baby Let’s Dance

Former lead singer of Westlife (I was a big fan back in the day!), Shane Filan has gone solo and though he hasn’t reached the heights of his time with Westlife, he is churning out some decent records, a bit different from his early days. This acoustic version of Baby Let’s Dance is my favourite of his post-Westlife work. (to skip the intro and go straight to the song- go to 1.55)

Amir | J’ai Cherche

Although the Eurovision Song Contest is more of a comedy festival rather than a singing contest, and the blatant tactical voting bringing fits of laughter every year, I did quite like France’s entry.

Goo Goo Dolls | Over and Over

Goo Goo Dolls have a new album out, Boxes. I have listened to all the songs a couple of times, and I have to say this is my favourite closely followed by The Pin and So Alive. Check them out!

Timberlake | Can’t Stop the Feeling

Finishing the way we started. With Justin Timberlake. The official single for the Trolls film, and it is catchy and a cheerful tune. Number 1 in numerous countries, plus there are numerous viral videos of various people dancing to the song that have have a few million views.

A nice way to end the post!
