Songs I Am Currently Listening To Vol. 6

Songs I Am Currently Listening To Vol. 6

In this edition of the songs I have been listening (and singing) to recently, there are some songs that I enjoyed listening to from films such as Animal House, Vacation and High Society. This post’s list includes Lloyd Williams, Lindsey Buckingham, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly, Five, Sigma ft. Ella Henderson, Johnny Stimson, Alice Kristiansen and Foo Fighters.

Otis Day

Lloyd Williams- Shama Lama Ding Dong “National Lampoon’s Animal House” |

Lloyd Williams- Shout “National Lampoon’s Animal House |

Animal House has a band called Otis Day and the Knights but the singer of the songs who doesn’t appear in the film is Lloyd Williams. Both Shama Lama Ding Dong and Shout are brilliant. Shout was originally recorded by the Isley Brothers and their version is also good and can be found on YouTube.

Lindsey Buckingham- Holiday Road “National Lampoon’s Vacation” |

Another song from a National Lampoon film. Holiday Road is the ultimate roadtrip and travelling song (along with the Proclaimers’ 500 Miles :p). Holiday Road is terribly catchy and will stick in your head long after the film has finished.

Bing Crosby & Frank Sinatra- Well, Did You Evah “High Society” | Bing Crosby Frank Sinatra

Bing Crosby & Grace Kelly- True Love “High Society” |

Two songs from the 1956 film High Society (which will appear in a special classics Short Film Ratings). You can’t go far wrong with Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelly can you? The glamourous trio of the Golden Age of Hollywood perform many great musical numbers in the film including the famous Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, but my favourite two are the two above (especially after my Dad’s hilarious attempts to sing True Love to my Mum afterwards!).

Five- Keep on Movin’

I go to pub quizzes every Sunday night with my mates, and with the last Sunday of August being a bank holiday there was a music themed quiz where we won a £5 bar tab! And afterwards, me and a couple of my mates went up to do karaoke and this late 90’s/ early 00’s boyband classic was our choice. We smashed it btw!…

Sigma ft. Ella Henderson- Glitterball

One of my favourite songs in the charts at the moment. Ella, who sprang onto our screens in the 2012 X Factor series finishing 6th place and was subsequently signed by Simon Cowell’s Syco music label where she went on to release her big debut hit Ghost. She features as the vocalist in Sigma’s new single and more recently as the vocalist in Kygo’s new single Here For You.

Johnny Stimson- Holding On

Johnny Stimson’s Holding On has been featured on BUPA’s Cancer Survivorship Programme advert, but only as a 20 second snippet. The song is now recently been released in its entirety on iTunes, YouTube and every other music streaming services. A beautiful and simple song. Go listen to it!  Alice Kristiansen

Alice Kristiansen- Hold Back The River (James Bay Cover) |

James Bay has featured on my lists a few times already, and despite being a relative newcomer to the music industry, his songs have already spawned many covers. Alice Kristiansen who has done many beautiful covers of many great songs already, puts her own spin on one of James Bay’s biggest songs that has brought him fame and accolades. Check out more songs from both James Bay and Alice on YouTube, you will not regret it.

Learn To Fly- Foo Fighters Rockin 1000 |

Learn To Fly is one of the best songs of all time (in my opinion), and recently 1000 Italian fans grouped together, complete with drums, guitars and microphones to play this awesome song for Dave Grohl in the hope that he will bring the Foo Fighters’ tour to Cesena. This performance proved successful as Grohl responded to them saying he would schedule a performance in Cesena. What a man! Give the video a watch, it is stirring stuff.

    • I have some friends that are huge fans of FF so they’ve grown on me over the years. My favourite 2 songs are Best of You and Learn to Fly. Both are incredible!
